My Love for Things

I wanted to create a space to share my love for things. Pretty things. Lovely things. Inspirational Things. Handmade things. Things that catch my eye and never seem to let that gaze go.

Leah Goren ♥

My obsession with all things handmade began when I stumbled upon the magical world of Etsy.

One of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe comes from one of my favorite designers that I found on Etsy: Leah Goren. How incredibly charming and whimsical are her pieces? There's just something about her repeating patterns and the ease in the structure of her pieces - so simple and delicate, yet such darling statement pieces that you could wear every day. They're not so basic, basics ♥

The Black Cat Dress is a classic (she also did a collaboration with Anthropologie that included a similar design).

These adorable pieces are not just limited to clothing, she also has a collection of scarves, pouches, totes, prints, and tech accessories (I'm proud to say that my Iphone case looks a little something like this).

Did I mention? Every order comes beautifully wrapped and if you ever need a custom size or style, she's super sweet and will work with you for the perfect piece.

Winsome Goods Goodness ♥

I love browsing on Instagram. I could spend hours and hours going through photos finding home inspiration, fashion inspiration, and life inspiration. After clicking through various photos and users, my eyes caught sight of the perfect pair of summer shorts. After a bit of researching and Instagram snooping on strangers I stumbled upon Winsome Goods ♥

Winsome Goods is a lovely, simplistic, quality-driven, small-batch brand of clothing designed and handmade in the USA. I have yet to pull the trigger and purchase any of their beautiful pieces yet (I've been forcefully resisting myself), but I definitely see myself picking up probably almost everything in the near future. Their pieces styled together are adorable, but are also simple enough to be worn with everything in your wardrobe.

These are quite possibly the perfect pair of shorts. They also come in a longer pant version.

How adorable is this slightly cropped Tulip Top? The back and side detail is so pretty - and the higher neckline is perfect for some dainty gold jewelry.

This is such an easy, simple, lightweight and elegant top. It would make a great wardrobe staple - and it's navy!

I know I haven't posted in a long while - life has kept me very busy, but I'm slowly starting to piece my life together. Hope you're all doing well lovelies! ♥

Your Eyes Deceive You Not ♥

Sometimes you’re 23 and standing in the kitchen of your house making breakfast and brewing coffee and listening to music that for some reason is really getting to your heart. You’re just standing there thinking about going to work and picking up your dry cleaning.
And also more exciting things like books you’re reading and trips you plan on taking and relationships that are springing into existence. Or fading from your memory, which is far less exciting. And suddenly you just don’t feel at home in your skin or in your house and you just want home but “Mom’s” probably wouldn’t feel like home anymore either.
There used to be the comfort of a number in your phone and ears that listened everyday and arms that were never for anyone else. But just to calm you down when you started feeling trapped in a five-minute period where nostalgia is too much and thoughts of this person you are feel foreign. When you realize that you’ll never be this young again but this is the first time you’ve ever been this old. When you can’t remember how you got from sixteen to here and all the same feel like sixteen is just as much of a stranger to you now.
The song is over. The coffee’s done. You’re going to breath in and out.
You’re going to be fine in about five minutes.

Lovelies! I cannot believe it has been almost a year since I last went on my blog. I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying the start of the new year so far ♥

My life has just been an absolute roller coaster ride. Sometimes I'm in absolute awe at the top screaming my lungs out in amazement and happiness, other times I'm tearing up with fright from the tips and turns, holding my breath afraid of what will happen next once I reach the bottom of this free fall. Yet at the end of the day everything will be okay.

But I am back and ready to blog'n roll.

The New Year brought me a new career along with rekindled love, friendship and of course new year's resolutions. This year I plan to:

♥ Save money - which doesn't necessarily mean to spend less, but to definitely spend smarter and control
         my shopping habits better
♥ Eat healthier - no more late night snacking
♥ Take sewing classes at Spool of Thread
♥ Walk home from work at least 3 days every week
♥ Read - I have had so little time for myself to indulge in books lately but I will push myself to make time

Speaking of shopping, my wardrobe has become a lot smaller since I started blogging. I've been evaluating, donating, and investing in basic, beautiful, and (most importantly) wearable pieces. There have also been a number of gorgeous additions that I can't wait to review and share with you along with some new skincare and makeup items that I have been loving.
Stay tuned ♥

À Paris ♥

Sprinting to catch the Main Street bus to get to work last week, I was stopped dead in my tracks when my eyes caught sight of these adorable lockets in the window display of sweet local boutique Much And Little. Not only did I miss my bus but missing my bus led me into the heart-warming shoppe and gazing for a long time at these adorable and colorful little enamel lockets made in the city of lights.

These little lockets are from a sweet brand named Trois Petits Points. Launched in 2007, Trois Petits Points is designed and created by Emilie Despeaux in her workshop in Paris. Each piece is made of materials chosen with care from gold-colored brass or silver plate and is often enamelled with elegent pops of color. Her collection, of course, does not stop at just enamelled lockets and includes many other elegant pieces of jewelry from earrings to bracelets.

The sweet story behind the name of Emilie's collection is described by herself as:

"Trois Petits Points means in English « three little dots » or « three little stitches ». It's a reference to embroidery design that was my specialty when I studied textile design and more poetically to « ... » at the end of a phrase, a kind of promise that something will follow..."

Delta Necklace from the Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

I love the simplicity of each piece and her additions of color, keeping the "classic" in a locket yet making it modern and fresh. Prices vary from piece to piece, but expect to pay anywhere around $100 or more for her precious handmade jewelry. Her jewelry can be purchased from Much and Little or Beklina's online.

I've already started a jewelry fund jar and just cannot wait to wear one of these lovely dainties around my neck ♥

Heidi Merrick Trunk Show @ Oliver and Lilly's ♥

I just got back from Heidi Merrick's trunk show at Oliver and Lilly's. It was amazing! Her collection (both current spring/summer and fall) was absolutely breathtaking. The pops of color, flowy silks, and chic minimalistic designs had me weak in the knees. My favorite pieces would have to be the Abigail dress, Fig Tree dress (talk about romantic and sweet), and the oh so gorgeous silk Hans Blazer in sky blue.

Did I mention the shoppe looked absolutely adorable? The ladies were all gorgeous in Heidi Merrick and the additions of fresh flowers, sweets, and cute cushions made this adorable little shoppe even more adorable!

I am so happy that Heidi Merrick collection is available in Vancouver and ecstatic that it's at one of my favorite local boutiques. The Heidi Merrick collection and cute shop Oliver and Lilly's is a must-see lovelies!

Have a good weekend lovelies ♥

All About Color

I'm usually pretty neutral when it comes to my wardrobe and accessories (it's usually black on black on black - sometimes a splash of green or pink, but that's asking a lot). However, recently I have been CRAZY about color! Well, I haven't really been wearing a lot of color, but I am considering incorporating quite a few vibrant pieces into my wardrobe for spring and summer. Seeing all these gorgeous bursts or neon and bright colors is so refreshing and beautiful. Here are a few pieces I am drooling over...

One of my favorite pieces from Heidi Merrick's spring collection. I fell in love with it when I first saw it in person at Oliver and Lilly's.

I`ve been very much into oranges lately...

Aqua aura crystals are one of my favorites, turn it into a bullet necklace and oh la la.

Handmade beauty for only $75. This satchel also comes in a bright neon green and pink. She also does cute flats and oxfords for very reasonable prices.

Nothing like a burst of sunshine to put me in a smiley mood.

No its not something I would wear, but it would sure make a beautiful accent to any room in my house (and it would help with geography class...well if I were actually taking geography - I could totally sleep and study at the same time) ♥

Have any of you lovelies been into color lately? What colorful pieces would you incorporate into your wardrobe?

Front and Company Rummage Sale ♥

It's that time of year again: it's time for Front and Company's Rummage Sale! Time to get up nice and early for a cup of coffee on Main Street and roll up your sleeves while lining up to get into the gem consignment store for crazy deal goodies ♥

I
've been able to go to every sale they've had for the past 2 years or so now and each time I've come home with amazing finds. One year I scored a pair of COH Jeggings and a pair of super cute Prada sandals while last year I managed to dig up a couple James Perse tanks, a funky Surface To Air top and a little Marc By Marc Jacobs watch. Despite the crowd and hectic atmosphere, it's actually quite fun. I love browsing through the accessories and stationary from their store next door (they usually have a table outside if the weather is nice - crossing my fingers for sun this weekend).

I
'll definitely be stopping by this weekend (hopefully before) work to see what treasures are to be found! I hope you lovelies will have the time to stop by and do some digging (and share your finds)!

Bun Frenzy and Bun "Sock" Tutorial ♥

I've been sporting buns here and there all month long. It's such a wonderful classic style that can be so easily funked up and edgy or sweet and demure (that and it makes me feel a little Parisienne every time I've got my bun on).

Pictures via exPress-o

I stumbled upon this little tutorial by Liz on how to do the "perfect (full) bun." I've been trying it out for the past couple days and I have to say it really works! I have really thick hair which seems like my buns would be large and voluminous and messy, but some days I really could use an extra oomph!
This little sock idea really adds that extra oomph for me and it helps my bun stay in place (without hairspray) all day long ♥

Once you've got your bun in place, it's really easy to make it messy.
Don't forget ladies, bobby pins are your best friends ♥

Handmade ♥

I've been on a handmaking frenzy lately...

Finally finished my little toque ♥
It's the coziest blend of alpaca, merino, silk, mohair, camel hair and cashmere.

I did a little bit of fixing up with my jewelry designs and switched all the chains from gold plated to gold filled as well as add on a little tag with L stamped onto it.
This is my favorite design from my entire collection. I've been trying to get my hands on more of that beautiful large Agate stone, which has definitely been a challenge.

I wish I had more time to work on knitting and jewelry making. The feeling of completing a beautiful project is incredible and you truly treasure that piece so much more.
